He saw one of his friends make $100,000 in a year and this was back in 2019. He saw his friend buying stuff cheap on marketplace let go and offer up. And reselling it either cleaned or as it is offering maybe in to deliver it for more.
He taught this model to me I saw it work with him at the moment when he showed me this I was driving Uber and starting up my lead generation business and SEO business and in the meantime I was also doing poop scooping in my neighborhood for money as well.
I saw it worked he convinced me he took me and my wife out to dinner we had a conversation about it at the time we had just bought a 2001 Subaru for around $1800. It was a nice car it was well preserved and fixed the owner really loved it. When I bought it it was nice I put a trailer hitch in a few days on the back of it so we could haul washers and dryers and exercise equipment around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
I trusted my friend and I also had the balls to take the leap. We bought a trailer for around $400 on theOutskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Before the trailer was just used for a four wheeler I think it was custom-made it was a nice trailer we definitely put it to use.
Within a few days we also purchased a storage unit. At the time I was living with my parents with my two dogs actually and my wife.
We Found a nice storage unit, the nice people let us rent out a unit for us to bring washers, dryers, and exercise equipment and store it until we can sell it so that’s what we did we spent time on marketplace my wife was doing a lot of the posting all of the equipment buying and communicating at all the messaging she did most of that she did most of the selling actually I would just do the driving and I would also do the in person selling if we need to sell something I would also do any repairs installation I also handled a lot of the customer complaints and kept situation’s calm as best I could and I know some of the customer service. So that was my side of the business and also one important role I had was quality control so I would I eventually got good at spotting problems with use stuff like I could tellIf something was going to break in a month or two I can see it already and I didn’t want to spend extra time fixing things and having moral you know obligations to go fix something so anytime I would spot her mistake or a potential breakdown or bring sample if we could not test the equipment before buying it it was a major red flag for us. Sometimes we still did it and we were punished by it. So I did not purchase things that I saw we’re going to break even if we drove almost an hour to go look at it. I’d rather take the loss on the gas then take the loss on the time of going to somebody’s house fixing it feeling bad having to work through those emotions and then all the other stuff to go with it it’s not worth it. So I rather you lose a few dollars in a few minutes on gas than Lose a few days and a hundred few dollars.
This was a really good business borrow it allowed us to make a good amount of money more than what we were previously doing so just to give you some numbers with this business model me and my wife are bringing in at the lowest around $3000 to around $11,000 in a month. In addition to this we were also starting up the marketing business and had to poop scooping going as well until we left the Dallas-Fort Worth area. So we had multiple streams of income I did take a lot of time and one time I actually decided to stop the buying and selling so we can focus on marketing business.
What I failed to understand when I made this decision was the fact that I just cut off consistent cash flow that was out running expenses to then focus our time energy and resources into the unknown without the clash cash flow coming in. I honestly was wrecked a few months later because I did not know how to allocate my time in order to get the maximum result of bringing in 3000 to 10,00011,000 $ a month. So I went through a rough. My friend finally convinced me to start doing it again because at this point I had also decided it was a good idea along with my wife to purchase a trailer fifth wheel trailer that we were going to live in for $13,000 which we did not have. So we convinced the people selling it to give us a payment plan and they did and we struggle to even pay that. We ended up also paying for a storage unit to keep it since we didn’t even have a truck.
During this time I was so stressed out because of the shame of living at my parents with my wife having multiple businesses going on having one business failing miserably and costing me a lot of money. And I felt like I had to escape this Reality, my wife was also pressuring me a lot to change the situation. So I decided after my wife looked at some trucks that can pull a fifth wheel trailer on marketplace she somehow set up a meeting with somebody at a car dealership. We went to go check it out I knew deep down inside I was walking out of there with the car and that’s exactly what happened we ended up walking out of there with a F-250 2013 it was a gas 6.2 L engine automatic. They charged us around $29,000 and maybe more I obviously didn’t have that at the time so, I Took a loan. After a few weeks my friend found out about this and convinced me to change that by selling this truck that I had just purchased on debt. Getting out of the debt buying a cheaper truck that I could use to start buying and selling because my Subaru had completely broken down.
So I took his advice I was already buying and selling at the moment so I still had cash flow coming in and my SEO business was starting to takeoff. We started buying selling again we got our cash flow up and purchased a van that we built out to live in and travel. Once this thing was built it was time to cut off the buying and selling since we could no longer stay in the Dallas Fort Worth area. My wife wanted to move and she was pregnant as well and wanted to have a child in another country. We ended up taking this van to Mexico and lived there for some time. But I cut off the cash flow again from the buying and selling it was really good cash flow in Cash, it was amazing. I cut it off to focus on my marketing business since I was already bringing in consistent income with my marketing. I paid a consultant to help me out he did a great service for me and showed me the way.
I no longer do the buying and selling but looking back on it it was definitely a great business model to get some money quick just buy things that you see that there’s a demand for and that you can make a decent profit on by connecting people who need the product with people who have it. So I came along and bought the equipment and brought it to them and installed it and made sure that they had some kind of a guarantee which they would’ve never got if they just told her uncle that has a truck to load the washer in the truck and probably break it on the way home and install it wrong and then I have to go buy a new one which I encounter people in that situation as well. So I was actually providing a really good service I realize that the people who thought this way including myself had a negative perception of money in business. They don’t get me wrong I do know people that scam on purpose with the same business model so I completely understand the skepticism we heard stories of people getting scammed and we talked to a few of them as well so we know that that was going on in the area. And every market there’s someone doing something evil.
So if you’re looking for a way to make some money quick look in your local area for things that you can purchase at a lower price and sell at a decent profit. Now you’re going to need to study the market a little bit just so you see and understand the value of that product like the market value of that product because you’re gonna see different price ranges if you just immediately jump into it once you come and see the market value of that product then you can decide what’s a good deal to you and that’s also gonna say control and are you gonna have to go check things out if it’s not a good deal then you know you might learn this the hard way when you sell it to someone and it breaks or when you know you get scammed or something like that so once you understand the value of things you can understand how much you’re willing to spend and what things are willing to buy at what price and then you can then sell that for a decent profit. So if you find an opportunity like that and you’re looking for a way to make money that’s one way you can do it.
